can we try hugging without shirts for a second?
"it's almost like we saw each other swimming in the pool and hadn't seen each other for awhile. these could be swimsuits."
humpday: a meditation on anxiety and friendship. so genuinely anxious and good.

a movie review
recently in maryland i saw 2 films: the girl with the dragon tattoo and it's complicated. it's weird to see them back to back because both of these films are revenge fantasies - but one is swedish with a lot of chain smoking and one is californian bourgeois-cafeteria, and in place of cigarettes there are chocolate croissants. dragon tattoo had a lot of rape, like multiple rape(s), nazi rapes, mouth rape, etc. it made me come to terms with the fact that i can't hang with suspense in movies for too long because it will inevitably lead to peed pants. no joke suspense is really hard. also more than 1 rape per movie is too much ok? im sensitive.
it's complicated was a revenge fantasy by a middle-aged woman, i mean the backbone of the story is how it's hard to be a middle aged woman because you are always so lonely. fuck. but then her ex-husband and children gather around her and just need her and her food.
it's weird to be in a place where i am getting stoked to pro-create and start my own little american family, but culture keeps trying to do me like all this will lead to is, at best, this meryl streep movie where my kids expect credit cards and shit, and that being in your 40's is starkly solo. do you guys feel me? what could be the secret then? is it rooftops and dogs and sunshine? because so far in life those things seem unbearably good.
