people are getting laid off at my office.
but this morning this woman who is getting laid off after something like 35 (!?) years at our organization asked me if I wanted one of her new business cards, and I was like yeah of course you sweet angel ... and she handed me this delicate little card with these pretty designs on it, and she said that her husband had made her these new ones, I guess immediately after she told him she was laid off, and then I almost cried.
there is plenty of tremendously weird shit that regularly goes on in the politics of couplehood, and then there are these simple things that people in love do for one another, just because they can. i love thinking about that part - the things that come naturally and from a place of utter generousity when you think someone rules.
